The Hale Halawai Force Main Replacement Project will replace an aging pressurized sewage main to protect the health of the public, prevent impacts to fragile reefs along the Kona Coast, and maintain uptime for businesses and residences connected to the collection system. The project will also include the installation of a flow meter to modernize the County’s efforts to monitor the health of the collection system.

What impacts can the community expect during the project?

• Expect additional traffic and travel times in the area during work hours. Care is being taken to mitigate traffic impacts to the extent possible.
• All businesses are expected to remain open and accessible, and no impact is anticipated to any sewer or other utility service.
• Some construction will be staged in Hale Halawai park. The park will remain open but access to some areas will be restricted.
